Get to know Trojan Operations Director, Mark Turner

Having worked in the Bathroom industry for the last 30years – 21 of these at Trojan – I’ve seen a million and one changes within our industry. From huge improvements in manufacturing efficiencies and process improvements, to companies merging or more sadly, closing - I’ve seen and been party to them all. There’s certainly been some changes in my ‘short’ career

Responsibilities at Trojan

My main responsibility is to maintain a safe working environment for all our employees across all three operating sites; knowing we are safe during the working day makes all the difference to the environment in which we all work in.

Procurement, plant and equipment and overall process control are all key elements to make the business successful and something which I’m passionate about and deeply involved in. I’m always looking to make improvements both within materials, equipment and processes – as a business we continue to invest and reinvest to achieve our goals

Do you enjoy working in Yorkshire?

I’m a Yorkshireman born and bred having moved from South Yorkshire to West Yorkshire some 19 years ago I still have short arms and deep pockets, Yorkshire Dialect has got to be the best in the country so “Keep Calm Tha’s From Yorkshire”. Also, the beer and the gins are not too bad either!

What is exciting for Trojan in the coming months?

I think the way David [Trojan MD, David Mosley] is going it will be world domination of the bathroom industry, as each year we go from strength to strength. Don’t get me wrong, we do have our fair share of issues to tackle but they just make us stronger as individuals and as a team we become resilient. Also our recent repositioning in the sector is giving our customers a better understanding of our offering across all disciplines, something which needs to be accredited to The Individual Agency for their marketing efforts.

Any other job in the world, if you weren’t at Trojan?

Difficult one for me but as a keen Match Angler it would have to be developing/testing new products for the Angling industry. It’s one of the largest participating pass times in the UK, with keen anglers spending over £3bn each year, yet it’s not publicised as much as it should be. Failing that probably a “Private Island Caretaker in the Maldives”!
